BBQ - August 7

The Dinner Optimist Club's Summer BBQ will be held at home of President Beryl's and Opt Brian on Sunday August 7, 2011. All members are invited to attend from 4oo p.m.. This will be a pot-luck event. Please contact Opt Beryl for complete detail. A map will be provide in our next bulletin until then have a great summer!

Our Scouting Department

At an Honours and Awards Ceromony, held at the U of A's Horowitz Theatre, Five of our Optimist Scouters were Honoured for Outstanding Service to Scouting.

President Beryl received a 'Bar to the Medal of Merit', this was given to her as a trained Scouter in a leadership role for further especially good service to Scouting.

Warren Loewen, Marion Loewen and Brian Wallace received the Medal for Good Service. This award is presented to trained Scouters in a leadership role, who have gone above and beyond their duties, and have participated or volunteered in area or Council events.

Optimist Bill Dick received his 15 year pin. This award is presented for long, faithful and effective service to Scouting.

LIDS FOR ALL

We are continuing our Lids for All program which is to ensure that all (youth) have access to a safety helmet. This program is operated from various schools as need is determined by the committee.

Lids for all sessions will be held at St. Jerome School 3310-107th Ave on Friday June 17th commencing at 845A and a Safety fair in Belmead on Saturday June 25th 12 Noon to 4PM. Please contact Optimist John or Keivin if you wish to help out.
