This event will take place at the St. Albert Eagles Hall at 23 Rowland Cres, St. Albert. We understand that several District Executives will be in
attendance and all members are urged to attend. Contact President Wyn for complete details. Times and other details will be posted in the future.

If you wish to extend congratulations you may do so by adding your comments below.

2011-2012 President Wyn

President Wyn is no stranger to Optimism or our club. She first joined in 1959 and was an Opti-Mrs which was a separate club and became the money earning arm of the Beverly Optimist Club of Edmonton. This is President Wyn’s second term of Presidency of our club and she is excited to take this on again as our club has grown and changed from the previous term. Pres. Wyn’s pet project is the oratorical contest and this has grown to include our club’s and Zone 5's Essay and CCDHH contest. Opt Wyn currently is the AMS& NW District Chair for
the CCDHH contest. She has also served on the District as Protocol and Oratorical Chairman. She is an extremely active member and does or has done just about everything in our club. She celebrated her 90th Birthday this year and was awarded the Governor Generals Caring Canadian Award in 2008.

Highway clean-up

Our next clean-up event will be on Saturday
October 22 and all members are urged to help out.
We will meet at the Leduc Boston Pizza at 9:00
AM and shortly afterwards will head out to our
section of the QE II ditch North of the Kavanaugh
over pass. The clean-up usually takes about two
hours and then we will return to BP for a lunch.
This is a joint project with the Leduc Black Gold
Optimists. If you need additional information
please contact Opt John

Zone Meeting Horseshoes

At the 4th quarter Zone board meeting on Saturday Sept. 17,2011 our traditional horseshoe toss followed. Congratulation to Opt Bob of the Leduc Black Gold and to Opt Clint of Edmonton Dinner for winning the tournament. Prizes and the trophy were awarded.

Past President Beryl’s Finale

Past President Beryl’s finale meeting was well attended by Dinner Optimists and by both Lt. Gov. Trevor and Incoming Lt Gov Peggy.

This was a program meeting and Barb Spencer from the Zebra Society was our guest speaker. Edmonton's Zebra Child Protection Centre is for any child who may experience abuse. It takes a community to raise a child and our donations are greatly appreciated. After the presentation Barb presented us the new Zebra Zipper pulls and President Beryl received a stuffed zebra plush toy.

Past President Beryl thanked each member attending personally by remarking on their
contribution to making the past year a huge success. The Presidents Award was given to Opt Dave Parnell for his telephoning of all the members before the meetings and for his committee involvement with the Brail Tones and 85th Anniversary. Secretary Lucile was awarded a Life Membership from our club. Each member was given a souvenir Dinner Optimist Club shopping bag. The blue cloth bag features our club logo on one side and Bringing out the Best in Kids logo on the other side. The 2010-2011 year and President Beryl are also featured. Lt Gov Trevor presented Beryl a Tim Horton’s gift card.

It was a great year and any Optimists who missed this meeting will be able to obtain a bag at a future meeting.

Casino a Success

The Brail Tone casino took place on Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29 at the Palace Casino in West Edmonton Mall. Many thanks are expended to everyone who helped out making this a tremendously successful fund raising event.
