Bicycle Safety

Special Thanks to Opt John, Opt Ruby, Opt Terry, Opt Brian, Opt Keivin for hauling nearly a 1,000 helmets about. Over the Winter Opt John stored over 600 multi sport helmets and they were moved to Mother Teresa School for a Bike Safety Helmets fitting on April 21 And we received about 302 bicycle helmets from United Cycle for various events. If you are interested in helping outwith the Bicycle Safety Helmet program and helmet fittings please contact Opt Ruby. An additional School is planed for the spring.


Our Second event is also on April 21 at 6:00pm at the Britannia-Youngstown Hall for the Beaver Bike Safety. This event is for Beaver Scouts aged 5- 6 years of age and members are needed for the rodeo and mechanic parts. We expect about 50 kids. If you are interested in helping out with the Beaver Bike Safety please contact Opt Beryl.



Our largest event is the Cub Bikeree and 200 to 300 participants are expected. So far about a dozen packs or about 150 kids are enrolled. The Cub Bikeree is a part day event for Cubs that is a fun and challenging bicycling activity that promotes safety and good riding skills. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, May 9th , 2015 in the River Valley. About 30 members are needed for Mechanics and for various skill testing stations at various locations in the river valley. If you are interested in helping out please contact Opt. Keivin.  We were short of mechanics last year and need to improve on this station and you may Contact head mechanic Opt John for details.


The Boys & Girls Club Bike Rodeo takes place at the Expo Centre at Northlands Park on Saturday May 30 starting at 9AM. We expect about 100 to 200 kids from about a dozen Boys & Girls Clubs. Our main roll is to fit them with helmets. We may be needed to help out at the various bike rodeo events or you may  be assigned to help the Club leaders with the kids.  This is an all day event and a great lunch is provided.
