Clubs Next Meeting Feb 27

Our next meeting will be on Monday at
6:15pm on Feb 27. This will be Baden
Powell night and the 144th Scouts will be at
the Royal Fork to entertain us with some
Scouting Songs and possibly a skit or two.

Please bring a guest, especially a
prospective new member.

Optimist International Oratorical Contest

Congratulations to Jessica for her excellent presentation at a recent club meeting.  Unfortunately she was unable to attend the Regional Conference; however the Dinner Optimists are proud to present her a small scholarship for her next year University studies.  Again Congrats to Jessica!

The 2012-2013 Oratorical Contest will be announced this fall.

Topic: "How my Optimism Helps me Overcome Obstacles"

Who: Students under the age of 18 years as of December 31 of the 2011-2012 school year
(December 31, 2011) who have not yet graduated from high school or the equivalent

How To Enter: Interested students submit a speech on the pre-assigned topic to President Wyn McAra.

The Dinner Club have already received entry’s and are currently accepting any additional
applicants. Club and Zone Contests are To Be Announced. We will be having two separate
contests based on gender. The District Contest will be held in Calgary in May. Additional Details


Optimist International Visit

88 attended the Blackfalds Optimist Club’s banquet
in Red Deer with key note speaker Past International
President Danny Rogers. Optimist John & Ruby,
Ray, Bob and Brian attended from the Edmonton
Dinner and Leduc Black Gold Clubs. Opt Al & Lee
attended from St. Albert. Others District
representative were from Calgary, Regina and Great
Falls. Furthest driver was Past Governor Doug
Kirby from Billings Montana. A sleigh ride and
dance followed the banquet.

Choralfest

On Saturday, March 3, the Brail Tone Choir will be performing at Choralfest
which is once again, being held at McDougall United Church. Address, 10025
101 Street. The choir performs at 12:30 p.m. There is no cost and all optimists
are welcome to attend.

Internet Radio Broadcasting

Opt Stephanie and Opt Tim are both in to internet radio broadcasting. They
broadcast on 2 different internet radio stations. Stephanie's radio name is
DJ Tiger Cub and Tim's radio name is DJ Tim. Stephanie broadcasts on Celrock
Radio on Saturday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Both Stephanie and Tim broadcast on HitMeRadio. Tim's broadcast is on
Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Stephanie's broadcast is from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Here are the links to the 2

February 13th Valentines Day Meeting

Our next meeting will be on Monday at
6:15pm on Feb 13. President Wyn is in
Hawaii so again Pres- Elect Peggy will be
chairing this meeting.

This was to be a NOW Dinner but the event
has been postponed. However if you had a
guest in mind please bring them as we have
a super Valentines Day meeting planned.
We will be having roses for the Ladies and
Chocolate for everyone.

Brail Tone Video

The Brail Tone College Club is now back at Kiwanis Place and both
communications and choir are going well. But when Kiwanis Place was under GI
lockdown, St. Paul's United Church served as a great place for the choir to
practice. The second week we were there, the choir made a video, thanking
the church for the use of it's facility. You can listen to the video by
