Zone Meeting on Nov 26
Approximately 30 members were in attendance and
this included several visitors - We were very happy to
have the following come to the meeting: District Chair
Edie McInnes- Zone 3 LG Edna Coulter, Zone 7 LG
Wendy Skoretz - Pres John McCrimmon, Backfalds
Optimist Club, - Karen & Don Holstrom, Medicine Hat.
We also had Bev Sawchuk from Stollery foundation
office.
The Zone meeting went well and Opt Edie gave
a talk on Membership and I hope our members who are
not able attend a District Board meeting took something
away from her presentation. Bev Sawchuk was
overwhelmed as I was with the amount of gifts received
for the kids. It was very gratifying to see our Zone
members doing such a wonderful job in bringing all the
items they did. A huge Thankyou goes to the Beverly
Optimist Club who donated 4 32' TV’s with WII
machines plus a cheque. And thank you to the Leduc
Club for their cash donation of $500 over and above
gifts brought. $110 in fine pot collections was donated
to the Stollery towards 22 Tim Horton cards for the sick
children’s visiting parents. Thank you, Thank you.
Opt Ruby, John and myself delivered all the
items collected to the hospital. The dock trolley was
overloaded with the gifts for the Children. The hospital
was going to wrap the gifts and will be given to the kids
by Santa.
About 44 attended the St. Albert Optimist
Club’s 30th Anniversary. They had two charter
members: Glen Kreller and Peter VanMoll. The
evening was great and the food was very yummy.
I would like to wish each and everyone the Very
Best Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.

Warm Hello This Season For You from The AMS & NW
Greetings to you all.
It's that time of year to check your list twice. If you don't have your list done by now and have checked it at least once, you had better hurry!!
Every year, after the holiday season, I find I have left something undone. I'll try not to do that this year. I would like to be able to greet each of you in person this year, but that is impossible, so I will do it this way, by letter.
I have said "You are the number one volunteer for Optimist International," and that is true. But, most importantly, you are the most important person to those 32 kids that your membership represents. They need you. They need you to provide growth opportunities in education, sports, the arts, humanities, health and moral support, to move forward in their lives.
As we move through the final stages of this year, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and celebrate the New Year, hug all around you and celebrate to the fullest of life.
As an Optimist, celebrate the good that you have done for so many, many kids that needed you. Give thanks for having the ability to help them.
This is your time with family and friends. This is your time to receive comfort from them and give comfort to them. This is your time to enjoy.
Ellen and I wish you the very best during this Holiday Season and, as we go forward into 2012, have a Happy New Year!!

Our Christmas Meeting
will be on Monday at 6:15pm on December12 at th the Royal Fork. All Optimists are urged to attend and please bring a guest, especially a prospective new member. We have a number of Christmas Projects and details on these will be presented. Maybewe will sing a Christmas Carol or two. Join us at the Royal Fork for a great social meeting. Please bring something for St.Catherines’s.
St Catherines School
Our ongoing support of St Catherine’s School received two plesant surprises recently. Our Club donated money for the School to provide Christmas Hampers to the many destitute familie’s that have children going to that school and also Optimist Les and Barb presented several knitted items to help the children stay warm when they are out of doors this winter. Please remember this project this Christmas season, bring something to this dinner meeting to help if you can.
Santa’s Anonymous
Many Many thanks goes out to the 11 members ofour club who turned out to do a successful wrapping ‘B’ at Santa’s Anonymous, on MondayDec 5th. 25,000 Children will be reached throughthis project and we are proud that our club played a small part in it.
