N.O.W. Dinner



Our next meeting will be on Monday, 6:15pm, March 26th at the Royal Fork. This will be our N.O.W. Dinner event. New Optimists Wanted. Members should bring prospective new member to this meeting. A power point presentation will be given on our club. A guest speaker will outline

the benefits they received from the Optimists and selected members will address the potential new members Contact President Wyn, Lt Gov Peggy or Secretary Lucile for more details.

Rick Hansen & Ximena


On Monday, March 12, the Brail Tone Choir performed at the Rick Hansen ceremony at the Van Vliet Center. The Choir members had a great visit with Rick and pictured is Ximena, President of the Brail Tones.

Choir Update

On Saturday, March 3, the Brail Tone Choir performed at Choralfest. The
choir sang 4 songs, and then attended a workshop. The workshop was great,
and the adjudicator was very helpful, and a lot of fun.

On Monday, March 12, the choir performed at the Rick Hansen ceremony at the
Van Vliet Center. The choir sang 1 song, and at the end of the ceremony, we
sang Oh Canada. After we were finished singing, Rick Hansen shook hands with
the choir. We felt very honored to shake hands with someone as famous and as
well known as Rick Hansen.

A LITTLE GREEN

Our next meeting will be on Monday at 6:15 p.m. on March 12 at the Royal Fork. President Wyn will be back from Hawaii and all members are urged to attend to welcome her back.

Our guest speaker is Jeff Wilson and he willbe here to help us make a little green. That i s money, through investments. This is a timely presentation as it is tax time as well Jeff is with a new firm and has some new products for members to consider. Please bring a guest, especially a prospective new member.

NOW Dinner Coming

Now means ‘New Optimists Wanted’, it will be held at our Mar 26th meeting. This is the night to bring out your prospective new member. More information will be in the next bulletin and on our BLOG site and at the Mar 12th meeting.

Six Attend Havre

Optimists Peggy, Geoff, John & Ruby, Brian, and Bert attended the District’s 2nd Quarter Board Meeting in Havre. About 60 Optimist delegates from Alberta, Montana, Saskatchewan were part of the conference. The meeting featured workshops ona variety of items and the awards ceremony from the 2010-2011 year. Congratulations to the Leduc Black Gold for achieving honour club status.

144 Scouts attend Oil Kings

Optimist Brian, known as Akela in the cub world,and two parents took the 144th Cubs and Scout to the Edmonton Oil Kings Hockey at the Rexall arena Saturday March 3. The group was part of 1,500 scouting people attending the hocky gameand sleep over. The kids were also treated to a autograph session, movie and breakfast the following morning at Rexall Place.

Thursday night a fantatstic reception and banquet was held. About 80 attended including Optimists from Northern Alberta and Calgary.

Brail Tone Choir Performance At Van Vliet Center

On Monday, March 12, the Brail Tone Choir will be performing at the Rick
Hansen ceremony which is taking place at the Van Vliet Center. The Van Vliet
Center can be found at the corner of 114 Street and 87 Ave. The performance
is at 4:00 p.m. All optimists are welcome to attend.
